I’m so excited!! it’s exactly 17 days until I am on a plane, with 50 other people, on my way to Barcelona, Spain.
I can’t stress enough how important being apart of societies in college is. Besides making loads of new friends, attending great year round events and just having fun, another perk is that we get a trip abroad. I’m going to Barcelona, a place I’ve always wanted to visit, with the Music Society. And the best part… It only cost 50 euro!! For both plane tickets and our hostel!!
One of the main reasons I’ve always wanted to go is because of the artist Antoni Gaudi and his absolutely beautiful architecture. I love art and, ever since I seen his work in a school textbook, I’ve dreamed of seeing it in person. I cannot wait to see La Sagrada Familia, which can be seen from almost every corner of the city, from my room window. Or Park Guell and its unique and colourful mosaique tiles.

We will be there for 4 days giving ourselves time to explore the city, shop and party. While there we will be staying in the Equity Point Centric Hostel in the city. I’ve heard amazing things about this hostel and it’s said to be one of the most comfortable places, as well as perfectly located. Its services include free WiFi, free breakfast, a guest kitchen, a bar, a common room with a TV, Wii and music, and that’s just naming a fraction of what they offer. It is located on Passeig de Gràcia, a street filled with beautiful architecture, shops and cafes.

As it is the Music Society, we must include something musical. On the second day we will be visiting Museu del Rock, a museum dedicated to some of the best and most inspirational rockers, and their memorabilia, of all time. I am really excited about going here, but I have heard mixed reviews, so I will be letting you know what I think about it.

Then, that evening, we will be taking a trip to the Font Magica to watch a beautiful fountain light show. What a stunning way to end the night.

The next day we will have to ourselves to wander around sightseeing, do a bit of shopping or head to a restaurant or bar. Then, the next day, we will be flying back on an early flight to Dublin, so we can tell everyone about our amazing trip!!
I’m counting down the days til we leave and will have some posts about it over the next while. When I return I plan on giving you a review on the trip overall to let you know what it was like and whether you should try out things as well.
